SUMMER QUARTERLY MEETING OF THE ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF EAST TEXAS

The quarterly meeting of the Astronomical Society of East Texas will be held Saturday, June 24th at 7pm in Room 104 of the RTDC  at  TJC West. 

This meeting is open to everyone.  It will consist of a business meeting and presentations, one of which is about the Solar Eclipses coming up later this year and early next year.

STAR GAZING AT THE MINEOLA NATURE PRESERVE, JUNE 16TH AT 8:30 PM

 

The Mineola Nature Preserve and the Astronomical Society of East Texas will put on a StarGazing at the preserve on Friday, June 16th.  This  will be celestial stargazing at the Amphitheater beginning around 9:30pm.  Please arrive by about 8:30pm so you can get acquainted with your surroundings. It should conclude around 11pm. This is a naked eye observing so there will be no telescopes.

Watch the weather on that day, should clouds form or inclement weather develop, the event will be cancelled.  That being the case, a cancellation announcement notice will be posted on our website: Astronomical Society of East Texas and out facebook page of the same name. There is also be a NO STARGAZING sign at the main preserve gate or call 903-520-7338 or email astroetexas@gmail.com.

Be aware that the temperature may be warm and that there has been rain lately. You may bring wipe type mosquito repellent but not the aerosol type.

At the end there will be door prizes given away, so plan on staying to the end.
